How to Make a Professional Flyer in Canva (Step-by-Step)

Learn how to create a stunning, print-ready flyer in Canva in under 10 minutes using a pre-made template.

Canva has become the go-to tool for creating flyers, social media graphics, and marketing materials — and for good reason. It is free, easy to use, and produces professional results without any design experience.

In this guide, we will walk through exactly how to create a flyer in Canva from start to finish.

Step 1: Start with a Template

The fastest way to make a great flyer is to start with a professionally designed template rather than a blank canvas. This saves hours of design work and ensures your flyer looks polished from the start.

You can use one of our Design Supply GFX templates for the best results — each one is designed specifically for print and digital use, fully editable, and optimized for different event types.

Step 2: Open the Template in Canva

After purchasing a template, you will receive a Canva link via email and on your confirmation page. Click the link, then:

  1. Click File → Make a Copy — this saves the template to your own Canva account so you can edit it
  2. You are now in the Canva editor with all elements unlocked and editable

Step 3: Update the Text

Click on any text element to edit it. Update:

  • Event name or business name
  • Date, time, and location
  • Contact information or social media handles
  • Any pricing or ticket information

Tip: Keep text changes minimal at first — the template typography is already set up to look great. Only change the words, not the fonts or sizes unless necessary.

Step 4: Swap Colors (Optional)

If you want to match your brand colors, select any colored element and click the color swatch in the top toolbar. You can enter a hex code for exact brand colors.

Step 5: Add or Swap Images (Optional)

Most of our templates use color-based designs that do not require photos. But if you want to add an image, click an existing image element and choose Replace to upload your own photo.

Step 6: Download Your Flyer

When you are happy with the design:

  1. Click Share → Download in the top right
  2. Choose PDF Print for physical printing (best quality)
  3. Choose PNG for digital sharing (Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp)
  4. Click Download

Printing Your Flyer

For physical prints, we recommend:

  • FedEx Office or Staples for quick local printing
  • GotPrint.com or PrintingForLess.com for bulk orders
  • Standard sizes: 4x6, 5x7, or 8.5x11 depending on your needs
